FRANKENSTEIN! comes to Falmouth

Renowned for their surreal and comic re-workings of well known and loved stories, the Miracle Theatre Company is bringing 'the ultimate monster-mash up' to The Poly in Falmouth on Sunday 23rd December and again from Thursday 27th December to Sunday 30th December. They're also returning in the new year from Wednesday 2nd January to Friday 4th January. They're putting on an inventive approach to FRANKENSTEIN! which, they say, promises to tickle funny bones and have audiences jumping out of their seats.
Originally a Victorian novel, Miracle presents its Frankenstein! as a musical performed by the Ffitch Repertory Players in 1947.
As with past Miracle shows audiences will get backstage glimpses of the intrepid players as they struggle to create their terrifying vision of the future - a world where the rich and famous have paid huge sums to have their bodies preserved at sub-zero temperatures in the EternaLife cryonics facility, hoping that one day science will be able to reverse the ageing process.
"The original novel is so rich in themes and ideas that it lends itself to pretty much any kind of interpretation," says Miracle director, Bill Scott.
"Our unique adaptation, while looking for laughs, does not shy away from the deeper aspects of the classic tale and will have a bit more bite than your average panto, designed for the enjoyment of adults as much as children – though often in different ways!"
Original songs have been composed by Tom Adams and will be performed to live musical accompaniment by Ben Dyson and Ciaran Clarke and newcomer Holly Cassidy.
Expect foot-tapping songs, dazzling dance routines, eye-watering comedy and a jolly good fright!
