Falmouth is gearing up for its Christmas festivities and this year there is a packed programme of events leading up to Christmas Day. Boasting everything from a Santa Fun Run to Harmony Choirs, there should be something to get even the biggest of Scrooges into the yuletide spirit.
The action starts on 29th November with the big Christmas Lights switch on at 7pm on The Moor. The evening will include singing from Falmouth's schoolchildren, dancing and plenty of other activities. There will also be a Lantern Parade which will leave Events Square at 6pm and arrive on The Moor prior to the switch-on.
The fun continues on 8th Dec with a Christmas Fancy Dress Parade where participants can dress up and look as daft as they like while parading through the streets of Falmouth. On the same day there will be a Christmas Fair at the historic Brewery Yard on the old High Street.
The following weekend, on 15th December, will see the Santa Fun Run. Starting at 1pm on The Moor several hundred 'Santas' will be pounding the streets of Falmouth raising money for Cornwall Hospice Care. Anyone interested in taking part can visit the Cornwall Hospices event booking page for more information.
Alongside the Fun Run will be another Christmas Fair at the Brewery Yard.
Finally on Christmas Eve choirs from across Cornwall will gather in Falmouth to sing Christmas carols along the main thoroughfare as they have done for over 100 years, setting the mood for the following day.
