An urgent call for generous-hearted Cornish people to help send a group of local youngsters who have learning disabilities on a special away break in France next spring is being made by their support charity Brandon Trust.
The trip will help the five youngsters, aged between 12 and 18, to develop life and social skills and increase their independence by taking part in a range of physical and social activities including canoeing, games and fruit picking, said Steve Richardson, Locality Manager for Children's Services. He said: "It would also be an opportunity for them to make new friends away from their families, who would also benefit from some respite time." The break is being supported by The Big Give who have agreed to double the money raised by Brandon Trust.
Cornish people can help make this once in a lifetime opportunity happen with a 'double your money' donation this Christmas!
"Just £3,000 raised online via the Big Give website from now until December 17 will enable the Brandon Trust to receive up to £6,000 in matched funding and make the away break happen for the youngsters," said Steve.
He added: "Generous individuals and Cornish companies could also donate by calling the Brandon Trust fundraising team on 01179 077200."
