The prestigious yacht race will leave Falmouth for the Azores on Saturday the 4th
The 10th Azores and Back yacht race is due to leave Falmouth on Saturday (the 4th) with the gun at Pendennis Castle starting the race at 1pm.
The 2,400-mile event is the largest offshore race to leave British shores this year. Over 60 yachts from ten different countries will be taking part. The yachts usually take between 7 to 10 days to complete each leg of the journey. The return leg leaves the Azores on June 21
Malcolm Bell, head of tourism at VisitCornwall, said: "This event only happens every four years and we are delighted to celebrate its 10th anniversary."
If you fancy watching the start, Pendennis Point, which is right by the starting line, will be the best place to see the competitors off. Plus, if you live in the TR10 or TR11 postcodes you'll get free entry into Pendennis Castle. Entertainment will continue into the evening with a hog roast and beer tent at the castle.

Sounds interesting. I'd love to take part in an event like this. I'll definitely be heading down this weekend.
