The blaze broke out in a garden shed at the back of a house in Broad Street just before 4.30pm on Thursday and police closed off Mitchell Hill.
A spokesman for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival of the first engine, the fire was found to have spread to a neighbouring property."
Crews from Truro, Falmouth and Perranporth managed to get the blaze under control by about 5.15pm.
Acting Inspector Mark Cooper, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "The report initially was that there was a fire with the possibility of people trapped.
"The fire service attended with a very quick response and they have managed to control the fire and have carried out a search of the address and found nobody trapped or injured."
