Snow falls in Falmouth

Snow has finally fallen in Falmouth. After days of watching the rest of the UK sledging and building snowmen, overnight the white stuff fell in Falmouth, Penryn, Helston, The Lizard and even as far west as Penzance.

Snowflakes appeared at just after midnight and took many by surprise. Around two to three centimetres settled in some places.
The flurry hasn't had an affect on any of Falmouth's schools although Halwin, near Helston, remains closed today due to the icy road conditions in the area.
The Council's gritting teams have been out treating the major routes across Cornwall but are however still warning people to drive carefully.
