Falmouth’s crime epicentres have been revealed after the new national crime mapping website has gone online.
-
Just under half of all crimes in Falmouth are anti-social behaviour.
December 2010 saw 144 crimes reported in the town. By far the most common crime was anti-social behaviour with 64 incidents. There were 19 violent crimes and 18 burglaries reported.
The main areas where crimes are committed are the obvious ones, the centre of town and the moor.
According to the Home Secretary Theresa May, the purpose of the site is to allow “people to be able to see what crime is happening on their street and to be able to tell their local police if they have concerns, and challenge them about how issues are being dealt with.”
The website has had a few teething difficulties today. According to the Home Office, they were getting 75,000 views a minute at launch.
