2012 DECEMBER WEATHER FORECAST
December: continuing cold with a east wind it will be come Increasingly unsettled with occasional snow which will later turn sleet or rain followed by heavy showers that could be wintry on hills. Temperatures should be closer to normal eventually, reaching say 7 to 11C, with less cold nights giving minimum values between say 1 and 5C.
Around the middle of the month there will a tendency for colder weather to return from the north. Showers could turn wintry over Scotland and on northern hills, while the west and south could stay somewhat milder, although not feeling so in the wind. Top temperatures should be 5 to 7C in the west and south. Frost is more likely in the north and east, with minimum temperatures say -1 to +3C At this stage confidence is low but Christmas 2012 at the moment looks like being cold or very cold with High pressure over the UK giving hard frosts at night but cold and mostly dry by day at first but snow over France and Germany will try and move north in to southern Britain -more on this in my December forecast ;
2012-13 winter looks like it being one of the coldest for many years
