Gyllingvase beach missed out! In The Times this weekend they published a list of their favourite fifty beaches and Gyllyngvase wasn't on it. Most of the top ones were in Cornwall but the nearest to us was Coverack. I know they had to include beaches from all around the country but they listed Skegness and while I don't wish to offend anyone who lives or holidays there, I've been and it is horrible compared to our beach. It's all chip shops and tacky amusement arcades and the beach is sandy but the sea is curiously brown whereas we have loads of lovely beach and rockpools to explore all looking out onto a beautiful view of the castle, bay and down the coast to the south. The usual suspects like Newquay and Durdle Door in Dorset made the list but I think Gyllingvase is just as good if not better than a lot that they highlighted.

We are lucky to have Gyllingvase beach. That list might have put us at risk of becoming tacky; a blessing in disguise!
