Do you know any 16-18 year olds who are not in employment or education?
Penryn design agency Sea Communications is offering them the chance to learn digital media and communication skills, including how to use the internet to find skills, support, inspiration and job opportunities.
Make It Digital is a new project that will assist young people in making a film exploring the subject 'choices for young people'. They will learn filmmaking techniques including scripting, storyboarding, and how to use basic editing software. Their films will be shown at a special event for businesses and the wider community.
Make It Digital students will also receive one to one mentoring from specialist youth recruitment company Junction 24, who will work with individuals to understand their interests, skills, strengths and help them put together an action plan which leads to real employment opportunities .
Kathryn Woolf, Director from Sea explains the idea behind the course which is supported through Convergence Cornwall and Skills Funding Agency funding:
“We wanted to create a service that helps young people create opportunities from the internet, and think differently about their future. Make It Digital aims to make the transition from school to employment easier, by providing young people with a “toolkit” of digital skills and knowledge. We will be encouraging promising candidates to apply for an internship with Sea after completion of the course.”
