Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 6 months you’ll no doubt be aware that this Friday is the Royal Wedding. You could stay in and watch it at home, but that’s not very sociable now is it? Luckily, Falmouth has a whole load of events going on...
-
The Falmouth Hotel is just one of the many pubs and hotels around town showing the ceremony on the big screen.
Royal Wedding Gala at the Falmouth Hotel
If you really plan on pushing the boat celebration wise, the you can’t push it out much further than the Royal Wedding Gala Luncheon at the Falmouth Hotel. Not only are they showing the wedding on a big screen, they’re hosting a three course lunch to go with it!
Celebrations will commence at 10.30am, with tea and coffee followed by our special Bridal Punch and canapés served at 11.30am. At 12.30pm a three course luncheon will be served with sparkling wine to toast the Bride and Groom. Seats cost £29.95 per person. More information can be found here.
The Budock Vean have decided the best way to celebrate the day is with a quintessentially British garden party. Aside from the showing the ceremony on a big screen, entertainment will include croquet, cucumber sandwiches, cream tea and afternoon tea dance with string quartet Melegari as well as a best hat/ tie competition. More information can be found here.
Royal Wedding events at Falmouth Pubs
First up is Watermans where Small Sofa will be holding a ‘Right Royal Knees Up’. This one’s an evening event-- it starts at 10pm-- and entry is free! Watermans will be showing the wedding during the day. For more information, click here.
Nearly all the pubs in town will be showing the ceremony (which takes place at 11am.) For a full run down of Falmouth great drinking establishments click here.
Avoiding the Royal Wedding in Falmouth
There are a large number of people that will be looking to avoid the whole event. Obviously staying indoors with the TV and radio off is one way to do this, but chances are you’ve got the day off working and will be looking to so something outdoors. In Falmouth, your best best avoiding the wedding will be the beach. By it’s very nature, the beach as no power so there’ll be a minimal chance you’ll see any coverage.
Aside from that, sadly almost everywhere else is going to be wall to wall coverage. If you’ve got a plan to avoid the wedding coverage the do let us know.
Have we missed any events? Are you having a street party? Have you stumbled across a Royal Wedding-free location? Let us know and we’ll add it to the list.
Comments
Good events going on in Falmouth. I am (shamefully) quite looking forward to it. Last royal wedding I watched was Andrew and Fergie on TV in primary school. We then went outside and planted a tree while playing something quite tuneless on recorders. I would love to say I'm marking this occasion in much the same way but I have sadly mislaid my recorder.
