Falmouth’s late night shopping season is just around the corner and we know how stressful shopping for presents can be. So with that in mind, where are the best places in Falmouth to pick up your Christmas gifts?
-
Falmouth's late night shopping is every Thursday in December.
Books are often a good gift and there’s quite a few good reads out there at the moment. Falmouth Bookseller has got a great range and their prices aren’t bad either. They’ve got quite a few good reviews in our business directory and they’ve won awards for being the best independent book shop in the country.
For DVDs, CDs and Games Asda is probably your best bet. Jam is another music shop you could try however their stock is less mainstream. You can find them half way up the high street.
Small gifts and stocking fillers
If you’re looking for gifts for friends or stocking fillers then FalmouthPeople reader SueCrellow recommends Morgan’s. She says they’re a “must at Christmas time in particular for stocking fillers.”
If you’re heading away this festive season then you may want to give a little bit of Cornwall to your family. Rick Stein’s deli has some great local food produce that’s nicely presented. The Courtyard Deli is also a great shop for good looking foodie presents.
Clothes etc.
Perfumes and Aftershaves always make great gifts as they’re not really things you buy yourself. Boots and Superdrug have a good range and are open late every Thursday in December.
Booze is also an easy gift. If you really want to give a special gift then check out The Bottle Bank on Discovery Quay. If your not a connoisseur then they’ll happily point you in the right direction.
One thing we don’t have a shortage of in Falmouth is clothing shops. Sessions (formerly Big Wednesday), Tsars, Ann’s Cottage and many others are great places to pick up watches, bags, clothing and shoes.
For people who have everything
But what about that person who’s impossible to buy for? Well, for people like that you need to think outside the box. If they’re the arty type then membership to the Poly could be a good gift. It gives you priority booking and discounts and invitations to private exhibitions.
Treating you’re loved one to a day of pampering is also another option. A number of spas around the town also offer gift certificates. You can click here to see a full list of places in and around town.
Finally, for those who have everything, why not treat them to diving lessons. Cornish Divers are based in the town and offer training and well as diving excursions around the Falmouth bay.
Do you like to shop locally for presents or do you prefer to get all your goods online? Are there any shops I’ve missed off? Let us know in the comments.
