Falmouth’s Spring Festival starts next week and it’s heavily garden based. In fact, guerrilla gardeners have been out in force tidying up the town. So if all this green fingered action has got you wanting to make your own garden fit for summer then read on as we discover the best garden places in town...

The obvious place to start is Falmouth Garden Centre. Based on the outskirts of town, the independent, family run business sell a great range of local plants. One FalmouthPeople reader said: “Falmouth Garden Centre is not large but I liked the poly tunnel of bedding and vegetable plants. I bought a good range of plants for my vegetable garden including beans, lettuce, aubergine, courgettes and a squash.”

Whilst they may not specialise in plants, Trago Mills are a great place to pick up gardening accouterments. Great if you just want to spruce up a patio area or decking.

What good is a garden if you can’t enjoy it? Outdoor furniture is a must, especially if you’re planning to host barbecues later in the year. B&Q, Trago and Argos all stock ranges of garden furniture that are perfect for enjoying your garden, the sun or a glass of wine.

But what if all this gardening malarkey has got you flummoxed? Hopefully the answer will come in the form of Gardeners Question Time hosted by BBC Radio Cornwall at the National Maritime Museum. Being held on the 28th March and hosted by Radio Cornwall’s very own Tim Hubbard, booking is essential. Click here for more information.

If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration then why not check out some of the gardens in and around the town. Trebah Gardens is considered one of the best in the world and is a great way to spend an afternoon out.

Finally, if all this seems far too much like hard work then Falmouth has a great selection of gardeners and landscape architects that can sort you out. Click here to see a selection in our business directory.
