Falmouth will once again be holding the annual Cornwall Film Festival this November. Being held from the 5th to the 7th, it’ll be showcasing some of the best Cornish, national and international films at the Phoenix Cinema in the centre of town.

Stieg Larsson fans should take note the the festival will be screening the final film in the Millennium trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest, three weeks ahead of its UK release.

Falmouth may not have the great weather than Cannes has but it does have some of the films. Mike Leigh’s Another Year was in the running for this years Palme d’Or and will be shown during the festival.

An exciting, unique and arty event for this year’s Cornwall Film Festival is a painting-on-film workshop, delivered by Unravel, the winners of the Royal College of Art's Deutsche Bank Award for Art 2010.  This collective of RCA graduates aims to create a hand-painted 16mm film that will correlate in length with the 874 miles between John O'Groats and Land's End.

Members of the public will be invited to help paint the 16 hours of celluloid at workshops across the UK, culminating at the Cornwall Film Festival in November. If you fancy a go, the workshops will be free of charge and will run from 12 – 5pm at the Falmouth Art Gallery on Sunday 7th November.
