Calling all budding film makers: The people behind the Cornwall Film Festival (the one that was held in Falmouth late last year) are looking for budding Spielbergs and Bruckheimers to create a film in Kernewek.
The Govyn Kernewek Award is a competitive annual commission of £5,000 to make a short film using the Cornish language. This year the suggested title is "Dowr Tamar yw, nyns yw an Amazon a-barth Duw!" (It's the Tamar, not the Amazon for heaven's sake!)
The rules are simple. The short mustn’t be any longer than 20 minutes, it must be wholly or substantially in Kernewek (the Cornish language) and either the writer, director or producer is resident in the county.
The film should be made within a £5,000 budget and must be able to be completed by the 30th September 2011.
If you think you’ve got what it takes, your proposal must be submitted by the end of the month (31st January). If you’d like a little more information you can click here.
