Stan Stag and Freddie the Fox were out in the town centre encouraging people to lobby their MP to vote against a repeal of the hunting ban.

As part of a campaign by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) Stan and Freddie were in Falmouth asking people to do all they can to stop British wildlife from being killed for fun.

We want to remind MP’s that the majority of the British public want to see our wildlife protected.  The Hunting Act was introduced to stop foxes, deer, hares and mink from being chased and killed for so-called sport.”

Local landowners told me that keeping the Hunting ban in place wouldn’t make much difference now.  They suggested that some had found ways to continue to hunt but within the law.  They felt the act discriminated most against those who had more than two dogs, e.g. breeders, kennels and dog walkers.

Apparently four dogs out together are considered a pack and so anyone who needs to exercise this many animals has to make two trips. (Please note: This point has not been verified).
