1. Enjoy the leisurely trip to St Mawes.

Boarding at St Mawes
2. Look out for ‘The Ferry Birds’ – the stars of the book by Helen Dunmore. The book is based on a true story of two turnstone birds that catch the ferry each day. ‘The Ferry Birds’ is illustrated by local girl Rebecca Cobb.
3. Speak to the Captain or crew about the birds and find the story behind the story.
4. Disembark at St Mawes and explore the small shops.
5. Walk 2.5 miles along the coastal path to St Just in the Roseland. Wear good shoes because sections of field have a slope so it can be a little tricky walking at an angle.
6. Along the way stop at a little English Heritage place (St Mawes Castle - one of King Henry VIII's elaborately decorated coastal artillary forts) to pick up some Cornish ice cream. The public footpath goes alongside so no entrance required (unless you’re going in to view so allow plenty of time as well worth half a day). Eat icecream immediately before it melts.
7. When you get to St Just in the Roseland go and check out the 13th century church. It’s beside the water on a tidal creek so when the water is in it looks stunning. Allow time to explore the amazing gardens which include exotic plants. Feel peace and serenity all around you.
8. Listen to Jazz on the Quay of St Mawes on Wed 2nd June as part of the Fal River Festival. Extra ferries are being put on by the St Mawes Ferry.
9. On Wed 2nd June catch a free ferry across after 15:15 local, courtesy of the St Mawes Ferry. They’ll be making trips over until 20:15. If you’re coming back, the free trips start from 15:45 and end at 19:45. WARNING – Last Ferry back to Falmouth at 19:45. (Correct at time of going to press: kingharryscornwall.co.uk)
10. Enjoy the trip back to Falmouth; watch St Mawes disappear and see Falmouth get closer.
