The old Woolworths in the middle of Town is finally getting a much need facelift, just in time for the summer tourist season.

A temporary window display will be put up to cover the badly vandalised shop front that’s been vacant for 18 months.

The display is being funded by the Falmouth Business Improvement District, or BID for short. Falmouth BID manager Richard Wilcox told the Falmouth Packet: “Working closely with the town council, Falmouth BID has responded swiftly to an opportunity to improve the visual appearance of one of the most prominent areas in the town centre.

“Of course we are all working hard to ensure the site is occupied but in the meantime, this display is colourful, vibrant, brightens up no end a high footfall area and shows off the exciting new Falmouth logo.”

Richard Gates, the Town Manager, told FalmouthPeople a few months ago that the shop had structural issues that would need to be sorted out before a new business could move in.

Good news that they aren't planning on leaving it as it is for the summer - a blight on the high street.

Although I am still hopeful of a Woolworths return.

Good to hear. The site currently looks really depressing. I hear that Pizza Express are going into the old Woolworth's in St Ives.

It's a shame that such a big shop is still empty, hopefully the structural issues get sorted soon.
