Falmouth is the eighth least affordable seaside town in England and Wales according to a survey by The Halifax.

The top ten least affordable seaside towns were all in the South West, many of them in Cornwall including St Mawes, Rock and Fowey.

So why is Falmouth so 'unaffordable?'

Is it simply a great place to live and worth every penny?

Are you a local struggling to afford a place in Falmouth?

What can be done to help local people afford to live here?

I agree with Emma. I think its a testament the fact that Fal is a great place to live. It kind of got everything people might want - shops, beach, nightlife - as well as being close to the 'city' of Truro. Out of interest, how does Penryn stack up by comparison?

Falmouth's a great place to live so I can see why the prices get pushed up. As with all these places though it's often to the detriment of local people trying to get on the housing ladder. In Falmouth I guess a lot of houses are now rented out to students as well so property is in demand. I'm stumped as to how we can help local people afford it though.
